Pros: Excellent black level performance. Good but not perfect overall color accuracy. Good feature set with very good connectivity. 3D ready.
Cons: Contrast ratio is limited because the panel clips white significantly at a contrast setting above 46 severely limiting light output. Color accuracy is marred by incorrect color decoding.
To Buy Or Not To Buy? While it may be one of the better panels on the market right now, it is by no means a contender to the Pioneer KRP or Elite from a year or two ago. For about $2400, it does out perform most all of the 55-inch direct array backlit LED LCD panels on the market at least in some areas of performance, and at a much lower price.
Pros :Excellent setup features for optimizing the picture
quality in the Expert/ISF menus, extremely accurate color, and 3D capable.
Cons : THX Cinema
mode blocks all setup features for calibration. Significant halo effect around
bright objects like credits on a film. Color decoding is not correct for either Rec 709 or Rec 601HD and SD sources.
To Buy Or Not
To Buy? One of the best performing LED backlight LCD panels with local area
dimming technology on the market today. Highly recommended!
Pros:Good blacks
translate into solid contrast ratio. Relatively good color fidelity. Incredible
value for the money.
Cons: Color points, especially green, are
well outside of the Rec 709 specifications.
To Buy or Not To Buy? This budget entry level plasma leaves
a little to be desired in the performance arena, but the price can not be beat.
Solid value for the money.
Pros: Good
blacks, and much more light output capability than on the earlier G10, G15, and
V10 series panels.
Cons: No
motion smoothing processing for 1080p/24fps Blu-ray, and not 3D capable.
To Buy or Not To Buy: Excellent value for the money. Very good performance
coupled with excellent connectivity, and a good feature package. Highly
recommended!
Pros: At about $2,500, the
PN58C7000 is a
relatively good value in big screen plasmas. Good feature set with very
good
connectivity. 3D ready.
Cons : Blacks are not as
good as the best
Panasonics (Especially the VT25 series). Color decoding continues to
push red
slightly rendering skin tones too pink.
To Buy Or Not To Buy? A good
performer overall
with slightly better blacks than last year’s flagship models the PN860
series.
While not quite as good as Panasonic’s best THX certified models, the
PN58C7000
is a credible performer. Recommended.
