Jim Doolittle studied electronic engineering at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner Massachusetts. After college Jim worked in the music industry as an engineer which led to an interest in high end audio and, in turn, led to his interest in high end video.

In 1994 he attended his first ISF seminar and thus began his professional calibration career. In 1996 he was contacted by the ISF to help teach seminars and did so until 2002. During this period Jim developed a procedure for setting up and extracting the ultimate performance from a CRT front projection system. This method was incorporated into a class that Jim taught at the ISF seminars. In April 2003 Jim opened JD Labs, a state of the art facility for the evaluation and testing of all components of a signal chain in a video system. Jim continues consulting for manufacturers and custom installers as well as performing professional calibration for consumers and professional installers throughout New England.
